Recycling Programme

Teacher In Charge: Mrs Helen Chan

Recycling Programme in Telok Kurau Secondary School

In February 2007, the school started a recycling corner outside the canteen.

Three new recycling bins were given by Alvater Sulor: one for paper products, one for plastics & other recyclables and one for the Recycling Competition.

The teacher-in-charge of the Environment Club gave an assembly talk on waste minimization and 3Rs in the school hall.

The Recycling Bins were brought onto the stage and the whole school was shown the kind of products to be recycled and where they were to be placed.

The Recycling Competition is open to all classes the whole year round. All students, parents and teachers  have been encouraged to bring newspapers and old clothings from home. Collection is done every Friday after school at 1 pm by the Environment Club members.

Two prizes every term have been given out to the two classes that have the highest collection. There will be one overall highest collector prize to be given at the end of the year.

In the first semester, four classes with the highest collection were given LED torchlight, umbrellas & pouches  sponsored by NEA. They are as follows:

Term One :  3 Commitment and 3 Harmony
Term Two :  2 Loyalty and 3 Commitment

There is a noticeboard on recycling information beside the recycling bins.

Announcement on the amount of collection is updated weekly on the IT portal.
